Import workout notes

Turn your workout notes into a real training log

Years of training in a notes app, a paper logbook or another tracker? Bring it into MoveMate. Paste the text, snap a photo or open a Hevy, Strong or FitNotes export — MoveMate reads the dates, exercises, sets and weights and turns them into workouts with stats, progress charts and personal records. You check everything before it is saved.

Your history is already written down — just not in a tracker

Plenty of people log their training in Apple Notes, Google Keep, Telegram Saved Messages, a spreadsheet or a paper notebook. It works until you want to see progress: a chart for your squat, your best bench set, how much volume you did last month.

Moving to a proper tracker usually means retyping months of sessions by hand, or starting from zero and losing the history. With MoveMate you bring it over once and keep it all.

Three ways to bring it in

  • Paste text. A single note, a whole log, or a Google Sheets or Excel sheet copied as text.
  • Take a photo or a screenshot. A paper log, a whiteboard, a screenshot of your notes or of another app — up to 5 photos at once.
  • Open a file. A CSV export from Hevy, Strong or FitNotes is read exactly as it is, with no size worries for a normal history.

How it works

  • New to MoveMate? During onboarding, answer "Already training with your own program?" and choose import. Already using the app? Go to Profile → Import workouts.
  • Paste your notes, add photos or pick a file.
  • Review the preview — fix a date, swap a matched exercise or remove anything you don't want — then save. The workouts appear in your history, stats, progress charts and personal records, and the whole import can be undone with one tap.

What it understands

  • Messy, personal formats: "12.03 bench 80x8x3", "squat 100 5x5", "3 sets of 8 at 80".
  • Notes in English, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, French, German, Italian and Spanish — for example "жим 80 на 8, 3 подхода".
  • Dates in any common format. A date without a year is set to the most recent matching day in the past; a workout with no date at all waits for you to pick one.
  • Weights in kg or lb, including per-hand dumbbell weights.
  • Time and distance work like planks, runs and rows, plus warm-up, drop and failure sets.
  • Exercises are matched to the MoveMate exercise library. Anything it can't match is added as a custom exercise, so nothing is lost.

Already have a program? Keep it

After the import, MoveMate looks for the sessions you repeat — Push, Pull, Legs, Day A and Day B — and offers to save them as your own workouts in My workouts. Your next session is ready on the Home screen, built from the last time you did it. You don't need an AI-generated plan if you already have one that works.

Once your history is in MoveMate, you can also connect ChatGPT or Claude and ask about it — "how has my bench progressed since last year?" — with every imported session counted.

Your notes stay yours

What you import is used only to build your workouts. Nothing is added to your history until you confirm the preview, and you can undo an import afterwards.

Questions

What can I import?
Text from Apple Notes, Google Keep, Telegram Saved Messages or a spreadsheet copied as text; photos or screenshots of a paper log, a whiteboard, your notes or another app (up to 5 at once); and CSV exports from Hevy, Strong and FitNotes. Text has no required format — write it the way you always have.
Which languages does it understand?
English, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, French, German, Italian and Spanish — the same languages as the app.
Does it handle pounds and kilograms?
Yes. Weights can be in kg or lb, and per-hand dumbbell weights are recognized as such. Numbers written without a unit use the unit you train in.
My notes have dates without a year. What happens?
A date without a year is set to the most recent matching day in the past. If a workout has no date at all, you pick one in the preview. You can correct any date before saving.
What if an exercise isn't in the MoveMate library?
Exercises are matched to the library where possible. Anything that doesn't match is created as a custom exercise. You can also swap a match in the preview.
What if I import the same notes twice, or change my mind?
Workouts that are already in your history are skipped on a repeat import. And if an import isn't what you wanted, you can undo it with one tap.
How much can I import at once?
Pasted text: up to about 50,000 characters per import — paste a longer log in parts. Photos: up to 5 at a time. Hevy, Strong and FitNotes files: up to 20 MB, which covers thousands of workouts, in one go.
Is it free? Does it keep syncing with my notes?
The import is free for everyone. It is a one-time import to bring your history over, not a live sync — after that, you log new workouts in MoveMate.
Is MoveMate free?
Yes. Logging workouts, the exercise library, and connecting MoveMate to ChatGPT or Claude all work on a free account. An optional Pro subscription adds extra features in the app.
What can the AI see?
Only your MoveMate training data: workouts, sets, personal records, progression, planned sessions and the body profile you filled in. It never sees your password or payment details, and it asks before creating or changing a workout.
Can I disconnect it later?
Yes, any time — from MoveMate's AI settings or from the connector settings in ChatGPT or Claude. Disconnecting revokes access immediately.
