ChatGPT workout planner

Plan your workouts with ChatGPT — based on what you actually lifted

ChatGPT is good at writing workout plans. The problem is that it doesn't know your training: your last session, your working weights, what you skipped this week. MoveMate fixes that. Connect your MoveMate account to ChatGPT once, and every plan it writes starts from your real history — then lands in the app, ready to log at the gym.

Example

Plan an upper body session for tomorrow. Keep it under an hour.
Based on your last two weeks, back got less volume than chest, so I led with rows. Bench 4×6 at 82.5 kg, chest-supported row 4×8, overhead press 3×8, lat pulldown 3×10, curls 3×12. About 50 minutes — scheduled in MoveMate for tomorrow at 18:00.

Why a plain ChatGPT workout plan falls short

Ask ChatGPT for a workout and you get a reasonable, generic plan. To make it personal you have to paste your recent sessions, remind it of your numbers and injuries, and then copy the result into your tracker by hand. Next week, you start again from zero.

A good plan depends on details the chat simply doesn't have: which lifts are progressing, which muscle groups are lagging, how much you did in the last few days, and what equipment you have.

How MoveMate turns ChatGPT into a real workout planner

  • It reads your history. Recent workouts set by set, weekly volume, sets per muscle group, streaks and personal records.
  • It builds from a real exercise library. Every exercise comes from MoveMate's library of hundreds of movements (plus your own custom ones), so nothing is made up.
  • It knows your profile. Goals, experience, available equipment and limitations from your MoveMate profile.
  • It schedules the session. Approve the plan and it appears in MoveMate on the date you picked, with an optional reminder.

Prompts that work well

  • "Plan a push day for tomorrow based on my last week."
  • "I only have dumbbells this week — adjust my next two sessions."
  • "Build me a 4-week upper/lower split starting Monday."
  • "Which muscle groups am I under-training?"
  • "Am I still progressing on squat, or should I deload?"

How to set it up

  • Install MoveMate on iPhone or Android and log at least one workout.
  • In ChatGPT, open the app directory, find MoveMate and sign in with your MoveMate account. It takes about a minute.
  • Ask for your next session. Approved workouts show up in the app automatically.

Questions

Do I need ChatGPT Plus?
App availability in ChatGPT is set by OpenAI. If you can see the Apps section in ChatGPT, you can add MoveMate there.
Does it replace a personal trainer?
No. It is a planning and tracking tool. It gives ChatGPT accurate context about your training, but it is not medical or coaching advice.
Is MoveMate free?
Yes. Logging workouts, the exercise library, and connecting MoveMate to ChatGPT or Claude all work on a free account. An optional Pro subscription adds extra features in the app.
What can the AI see?
Only your MoveMate training data: workouts, sets, personal records, progression, planned sessions and the body profile you filled in. It never sees your password or payment details, and it asks before creating or changing a workout.
Can I disconnect it later?
Yes, any time — from MoveMate's AI settings or from the connector settings in ChatGPT or Claude. Disconnecting revokes access immediately.
